Description

This old-fashioned Salisbury steak starts with seasoned ground beef patties flavored with mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and a little cayenne. The mushroom and onion gravy is built separately by browning the vegetables in butter, cooking in flour, and simmering with beef broth. After the patties get a good sear, they finish cooking in the gravy, which coats them with savory flavor. The result is a hearty skillet dinner with tender beef and plenty of sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes or another side that can catch the mushroom gravy.
